Facundo Chapur Wins Historic Race in El Calafate

Driver Facundo Chapur achieved a great victory behind the wheel of his Torino in the second day of Turismo Carretera, held in El Calafate this past Sunday. Chapur, originally from Córdoba, had a remarkable performance as he overtook Juan Martín Trucco on the last lap to secure his first victory of the season.

From the start, Trucco maintained the first position, while Chapur, starting from fifth place, managed to surpass Nicolás Bonelli to move into fourth position. Throughout the race, Chapur advanced in the pack and reached third position, overtaking Santiago Mangoni and positioning himself as a contender in the competition.

At a crucial moment in the race, Jeremías Olmedo came to a halt on the track, prompting the Pace Car to come out on lap 15. After the restart, Trucco maintained his lead, with Mangoni attempting to overtake Chapur unsuccessfully. Later, a new incident involving Tobías Martínez led to another appearance of the safety car on the track.

Despite the pressure from Chapur, Trucco kept the first position, with Chapur right on his tail. Towards the end of the race, a collision between Agustín Canapino, Nicolás Trosset, and Juan Cruz Benvenuti necessitated the Pace Car's deployment once more. In the final restart, Chapur managed to overtake Trucco in the second corner to ultimately secure victory.

The final positions in El Calafate were as follows: 1. Facundo Chapur (Torino) 2. Juan Martín Trucco (Dodge) 3. Santiago Mangoni (Chevrolet) 4. Julián Santero (Ford) 5. José Manuel Urcera (Ford) 6.
